Measure Twice. Order the Window You Can’t Return.

Custom blinds are a high-anxiety, high-cost purchase, and the market is built to blur the parts that matter. You can’t return a wrong-size blind; seller sites bury the mount deduction that decides whether it fits; and "from $29" headlines and free samples hide wildly different per-window math. Most coverage of the category reviews the catalog photo. We review the spec sheet. Every seller verdict here starts from three questions: are the measuring rules published and specific, is the mount deduction stated plainly, and is there a real remake policy — and who pays. An affiliate relationship never overrides a weaker measuring guide or a stingier remake policy, which is the entire point of the operation.

We are a desk-verified operation, and we say so plainly: our reviews analyze what sellers publish — measuring guides, remake and return policies, spec pages, and quoted per-window prices — and hold them to it. We do not install blinds on camera and we claim no hands-on testing; there is no staged photogenic install here standing in for evidence. When a fact cannot be verified from the seller’s own published material, the review says "not published" instead of guessing. Per-window prices are quoted at analysis for benchmark windows — a standard 35×48 and a wide 72×48 — and carry the date we checked, because prices move.

The measuring reality runs through everything. Every seller applies its own deductions, so no page here gives a deduction figure without sending you to confirm it against that seller’s own measuring guide — their rule wins, not a rule of thumb. Custom blinds are made to size and generally not returnable, which is why fit confidence is the axis we grade hardest. On child safety we state the plain fact — the CPSC and the industry moved stock blinds to cordless because accessible cords are a documented hazard to young children — and we never dress that fact up as fear-marketing to sell a pricier lift.
