Best Plantation Shutters to Order Online (2026)

Where should you order plantation shutters online if you will measure, and maybe install, them yourself? This page compares five sellers' shutter lines and says which suits which window, read from the sellers' own pages on October 6 and re-read on October 12, 2026; nothing here comes from first-hand use. Blinds.com suits real wood or professional installing, Blindster a capped refund route, JustBlinds solid basswood. No seller here publishes an installed price.

How the picks were judged

"Best" means best for someone who measures and installs alone, judged on each seller's own pages: material (not what a banner says), louvers, frames and mounts, inside-mount depth, size limits, lead time, measuring-guarantee terms for shutters, shipping limits, warranty, installing help and a price at 24 x 36 in. Prices, ship dates and product-page wording are as read on October 12, 2026, unless marked otherwise.

Five online sellers' shutters side by side

No shutters were found on The Shade Store's site on 2026-10-06 (its site map lists none, and its shutters address returned a 404), so it is not on this list. Home Depot and Lowe's are not in the table: their own pages could not be read by our tools on 2026-10-06.

1. SelectBlinds: best for a first-time shutter measurer

Best for: a first-time shutter measurer who wants measuring cover and phone guidance.

What the lines are. The collection page says "Real wood options highlight grain and depth", but its four products on 2026-10-06 were faux wood, poly or PVC: Classic Faux Wood ("premium faux shutters", material not named), Contemporary Faux Wood ("Durable poly material"), the Contemporary Frameless Kit ("Constructed from durable PVC", shipped in pieces to assemble) and Click2Fit No Drill (faux wood PVC panels on an aluminum frame).

The Classic line. Louvers of 2 1/2, 3 1/2 or 4 1/2 in.; L-Frame, T-Frame, Bullnose or Casing Frame (Casing not with an inside mount); 12 to 96 in. wide. The colours on 2026-10-06 were Cotton, Pearl and Vanilla: see Classic Faux Wood Shutters in Pearl or the same shutters in Vanilla.

Measuring cover. The Classic page offers a "Fit Guarantee" as "Insure measurements" at "+$9.99"; the policy pages call it FIT Protection: claim within 90 days of the original order, corrected size within 2 in. per side, one remake per covered product and four per household for life. No shutter-specific rule is published; on October 14, 2026 the Frameless Kit page offered it too. The guarantees page and the terms' FIT section say a remake under FIT Protection ships "at no additional cost"; the terms' Shipping section says "Shipping charges will also apply for remakes under the FIT Protection: Measuring Guarantee".

Help, and two contradictions. The Measuring tab recommends calling its "shutter experts". The Classic page also says to round a 1/16 in. height reading down to the nearest 1/8 in. in one place and up in another, and its dividing-rail rules differ by place: optional from 30 in. tall and required from 66 in. in the description, unavailable under 42 in. in the configurator.

Installing and delivery. SelectBlinds says "We're a fully online DIY company, so we don't offer in-home services like measuring or installation", and its blog says shutter installation "is generally more involved than hanging most cordless shades or standard blinds". For Alaska and Hawaii the terms say shipping charges "may apply"; the help centre says it does not ship there. The samples page allows 30 free samples per order, the terms 15 at one time; order SelectBlinds' free samples before choosing a colour.

2. Blinds.com: best for real wood, or for shutters measured and installed for you

Best for: a buyer who wants real wood, or who would rather not measure.

The range. Its plantation-shutters page showed 15 products on 2026-10-06. Simplicity Wood Shutters are "made in the USA from sustainably managed forests" (up to 138 in. wide); Veneta Composite Wood Shutters are made in North America; Economy Faux Wood Shutters are PVC, sold as a panel or a track shutter.

Two channels. In-home shutters are "custom manufactured and installed by a local shutter expert", "you will not be charged extra for your consultation, measurements or installation", and "Every shutter is backed by a lifetime warranty". But SureFit excludes "shutters purchased through our In-Home Shutters program", and the Online Exclusive lines "do not include a free in-home consultation and installation".

Online terms. Online shutter pages print SureFit: a remake within 30 calendar days of receipt, one per item, four per household per lifetime; you pay only any price difference or a size- or location-based shipping fee. Veneta carries a Limited Lifetime Warranty; Economy and Simplicity carry the "Blinds.com Warranty", 3 years from delivery on the warranty page. Economy and Simplicity Wood do not ship to Hawaii or Alaska.

3. Blindster: best for a capped route to a refund

Best for: a buyer who wants a possible refund, or an inside mount in a shallow frame without molding.

The lines. Two shutter pages could be read: Premium Faux Wood ("a solid composite wood core and a highly durable exterior finish") and Faux Wood (polyresin), both with 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 in. louvers. Its installation page names two more lines. The category description says "faux wood or real wood", but no real-wood shutter page was found.

Remakes and refunds. Fit-or-Free covers measuring mistakes reported within 60 days of delivery, but shutters are "limited to one (1) free remake", and a shutter remake order pays an $85 oversize freight fee on top of the $20 shipping fee. The 60-day satisfaction guarantee can end in "an exchange or refund", capped at $500 within any 12-month period; its exclusions do not name shutters, but oversize freight and return shipping are non-refundable, and "all sizes of shutters" count as oversized.

Where its pages disagree. The category gives Premium Faux Wood "a manufacturing time of just 8-10 business days", yet the Premium page showed "Estimated Ship Date: Nov 17th - Nov 19th" on October 12, 2026. The policies page promises free shipping "even on large or oversized items" and warns that oversized orders "may incur additional shipping charges". The measuring FAQ says "We do not currently offer any measuring or installation services", while its installation page sends you to installers on Thumbtack.

4. JustBlinds: best for faux wood or solid basswood from one page

Best for: a careful measurer who wants vinyl faux wood or solid basswood and a 3-year standard warranty.

Its Shutters page offers faux wood "Constructed from recyclable vinyl" with 3 in. louvers, or "solid basswood" with 3 1/2 in. louvers, 12 to 96 in. wide and 12 to 86 in. tall. Inside mounts take a Z-Frame or L-Frame, outside mounts an L-Frame only. The page says "Normally made in: 22 business days"; the FAQ says custom orders normally ship in 5-10 business days, then arrive in 1-5. Measuring cover needs the paid Deluxe Warranty, added before ordering: one remake per product within 30 days after delivery. And "We cannot ship shutters to Hawaii or Alaska."

5. Costco (Bali storefront): best for members who want a composite shutter

Best for: a Costco member who wants a composite shutter, "Resistant to heat and humidity", and can wait six to eight weeks.

The Shutters category listed one product on 2026-10-06, DIY Shutters, with 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 in. louvers, at $141.00 for 24 x 36 in. during a "25% off all Bali window treatments" promotion valid 9/21/26-10/18/26. A Bali solutions page also describes Bypass Shutters in wood or composite for sliding glass doors, which the category did not list. No measuring guarantee is published: if you measured wrong, the FAQ says "Contact Bali Customer Service for assistance." The warranty page lists Limited Lifetime (Bali Custom) and 5-Year (Bali Essentials) cover without saying which applies to DIY Shutters. Frames, mounts and size limits: not published.

Which line suits which window

• Tilt-in windows: SelectBlinds says "Inside mount shutters may limit access to tilt-in windows" and recommends an outside mount.
• No drilling: Click2Fit shutters "click into place and are held in place by friction": inside mount only, 3 1/2 in. of depth, not for PVC window frames.
• Shallow frames: Blindster Faux Wood's Z frame needs more than 1 1/8 in.; Blinds.com Economy and JustBlinds faux wood Z-Frames 1 1/4 in.; SelectBlinds' Contemporary page says to choose an outside mount below 2 7/8 in. See minimum mount depth by product.
• French doors: Blinds.com's Levolor French Door Shutters (outside mount, 18 to 36 in. wide); Blindster's outside L frame mounts "onto the trim, the wall, or a door".
• Outside mount, no trim: SelectBlinds says add 4 in. (L-Frame) or 5 1/2 in. (Casing Frame) to width and height; JustBlinds says "If your window has no trim, do not add to your window opening measurement." Follow your seller's rule (inside vs outside mount).

How much are plantation shutters installed?

No seller here publishes an installed shutter price. Blinds.com says "quotes provided at the free in-home consultation will include all products and measuring and installation services" but prints no figure, and its whole-home installation offer ($149 in its installers FAQ, $199 on its samples-page tile) "Excludes curtains, drapery, outdoor shades & shutters". SelectBlinds does not install, Blindster's Thumbtack installers quote their own prices, and JustBlinds and the Bali storefront publish no installation service. What is published is the product price at 24 x 36 in.: on October 12, 2026 the prices read ran from $71.04 to $469.30.

Where other sellers beat SelectBlinds
