Motorized Shade Order Checklist: Verify the Setup

Before ordering a motorized shade, record the exact motor, controls, power and mounting requirements so a missing accessory does not become a surprise.

A motorized shade order combines a covering, a motor, controls and a way to supply power. A familiar collection name or smart-home logo does not identify every selected option. Use this checklist to make the proposed setup explicit before you approve a quote.

Name the exact configuration

Give each opening a label and copy the full product and motor-option names from the proposed order. Include the fabric or liner, mounting choice and any accessories. Keep the configuration link or quote beside the record so a later change is visible.

Avoid filling a blank from another product in the same collection. If the option name or documentation is unclear, ask the seller to identify the exact motor and instructions that apply to your selection.

Describe what you need it to do

List the actions that matter: use a handheld remote, operate from a nearby phone, run a schedule, respond to a voice assistant, or work while you are away. Mark each required action as confirmed or unresolved.

Then record the path to that action: shade, controller or bridge, app and household platform, as applicable. Ask which pieces are included, which are separate, and which household requirements remain. A logo alone is not the completed answer.

As a specific example, the SelectBlinds Automation Roller & Solar User Guide reviewed on 2026-11-04 lists an Automation Bridge and current firmware among the requirements for its Matter integration. That describes the system in that guide; it is not a rule for every motorized shade or confirmation of your selected configuration.

Plan power and service access

Record the offered power option and the approved equipment it needs. For a rechargeable option, ask where the charging connection is and how it will be reached after installation. For another power arrangement, obtain its installation requirements before deciding that the existing room can support it.

The same SelectBlinds guide specifies supplied charging equipment for its system. Follow the exact product’s instructions instead of assuming that any cable, charger or solar accessory is suitable. Leave recharge intervals unknown unless the relevant documentation supports them; this worksheet supplies no battery-life estimate.

Check fit with the chosen options

Keep raw measurements separate from an order size. Record handles, cranks, opening movement and other obstructions. SelectBlinds’ roller measuring guide, reviewed on 2026-11-04, directs shoppers to product specifications for mounting requirements and warns that options can affect deductions and depth requirements.

Choose the matching covering type in the measuring worksheet to record raw window readings. Keep obstruction and power-access notes in this order record. The tool does not approve the motor, mount or final dimensions. Ask the supplier or installer to resolve any conflict between the chosen configuration and the opening before checkout.

Review the record before ordering

Compare the final quote with the record line by line. Save the selected-option details and relevant manuals together. If a required feature remains unconfirmed, ask for an answer before committing to that configuration.

Use the room planner to clarify the room’s needs, then review the motorized shade comparison. The exact selected product’s instructions control the order.

Article FAQ

Does every motorized shade need a hub?

Do not assume one rule. Confirm the equipment required for the exact selected motor and each feature you intend to use.

Does this checklist confirm smart-home compatibility?

No. It records the exact combination and evidence you need from current documentation or the supplier.

Can I assume a recharge interval from another shade?

No. Keep that question open until the relevant product documentation or supplier supports an answer.
