Custom Blinds Lead Times by Seller: How Long to Arrive

Custom blinds reach your door after two waits: the days the seller takes to make and ship the order, and the days the carrier takes to deliver it. This page sets both side by side for each online seller whose pages could be read, with what shipping and samples cost. The figures were read from the sellers' own pages on October 6 and re-read on October 12 and October 20, 2026; nothing here comes from first-hand use. Short answer: it depends on the seller and the product line. SelectBlinds' contact page says most orders ship within 5 to 10 business days, but its product pages read on 2026-10-20 ranged from 1-2 business days (Budget Cordless Light Filtering Cellular Shades) to 7-10 (its shutters), plus 1 to 7 business days for shipping. JustBlinds says most orders are received 2 to 3 weeks after you order. The Bali storefront for Costco members says standard blinds and shades are normally delivered two weeks after the order is processed.

Lead times and shipping by seller

Home Depot and Lowe's are not in the table: their own pages could not be read by our tools on 2026-10-06. Hunter Douglas is also left out; its FAQ says its branded window treatments are not currently sold online, only through a national network of trained specialists.

When the clock starts

• SelectBlinds holds an order for a 4-hour review period before production when it uses both standard production time and standard shipping. "Bypass Review" sends it straight on with no changes possible, and orders with expedited shipping cannot be changed once placed. The product pages add: "Expedited shipping time does not change the production time."
• Blinds.com says production typically starts the morning after the order. Its pages disagree on the change window: 24 calendar hours on the order-policies page, 12 hours on the change-order page. Its delivery estimates count working days and exclude weekends, holidays and factory closing days.
• Blindster starts production the day after the order and shows a ship-date estimate for every product, adding that many orders ship faster than quoted. Its policies page gives 2-12 business days of production; its Made in 1 Day page says "New blinds and shades can usually take 5-10 days to produce" without saying whose. The Shade Store says production begins as soon as you place your order.

A business-day figure leaves out weekends; JustBlinds' 2 to 3 weeks and the Bali storefront's two weeks are quoted as the whole wait.

SelectBlinds, product by product

SelectBlinds gives two kinds of answer, and they do not match. Its contact page says: "Production times vary by product, but most orders ship within 5 to 10 business days." Its product pages, re-read on 2026-10-20, each print their own line:

• Budget Cordless Light Filtering Cellular Shades: ships within 1-2 business days.
• Cordless Light Filtering Cellular Shades: 2-3 business days.
• Premier Single Cellular Light Filtering Cellular Shades: 4-5 business days.
• Modern Textured Light Filtering Roller Shades: 5-7 business days.
• LEVOLOR Designer Single Cell Blackout Cellular Shades: 4-5 business days.

Two of those five lines sit below the contact page's range and none above it. Every product page captured also says: "Please allow 1 to 7 additional business days for shipping." Adding the two legs (our sum, not a SelectBlinds figure), the Budget Cordless shade arrives 2 to 9 business days after the order and the Modern Textured roller 6 to 14. The terms add that some products ship from outside the United States through Customs, which "may result in additional shipping time beyond the stated standard delivery time."

Where other sellers are faster or cheaper to ship than SelectBlinds

• Make time: Blindster's Made in 1 Day page, read on October 12, 2026, says "Orders typically ship the day after production via FedEx or UPS ground service, shipping time up to five days depending on delivery location." SelectBlinds' quickest line in the pages read ships in 1-2 business days. The trade-off: Made in 1 Day orders cannot be cancelled or changed once submitted.
• 3 Day Blinds says most custom blinds and shades are made and shipped within 3 business days, but it sells through in-home design consultants, who review timelines at the appointment.
• Transit: JustBlinds says 1-5 business days once an order ships, and Blindster's shutter pages say 2–5. SelectBlinds allows 1 to 7, so both of those windows end sooner.
• Alaska and Hawaii: SelectBlinds' help centre says it does not ship there. Blinds.com, JustBlinds and the Costco Bali storefront publish charges for shipping there, with shutter limits at JustBlinds and Blinds.com.

On standard shipping cost, SelectBlinds and JustBlinds come out ahead: SelectBlinds' terms give free standard shipping "for all original orders" to a continental US address, and JustBlinds offers "always-free shipping anywhere in the United States" outside its Alaska and Hawaii exceptions, while the Bali storefront charges $95 for blinds over 96 inches, Blinds.com's FAQ excepts "a very large window", and Blindster's policy page contradicts itself on oversized items.

What shipping costs, seller by seller

• SelectBlinds: free standard shipping (UPS ground or similar) to the continental US on original orders; expedited shipping costs extra. Its pages disagree once: outside the contiguous states the About Us page says "additional shipping charges may apply", while the terms say "Shipping includes the continental U.S. only." and the help centre says it is "unable to fulfill orders" to Alaska, Hawaii or international addresses. • Blinds.com: free to the contiguous US, "unless it is a very large window" per the FAQ; $30 per item to Hawaii and Alaska on oversized orders (94 inches and above).
• Blindster: the policies page says "FREE shipping on all orders! No hidden fees, even on large or oversized items", and the same page also says oversized orders may incur charges shown at checkout. Oversized means horizontal blinds or shades over 90 inches wide, vertical blinds over 90 inches wide or long, and every shutter.
• JustBlinds: free in the US with exceptions. To Hawaii and Alaska its policies page charges $30 per item on oversized orders of 94 inches and above, its FAQ says 96 inches and above, and the same FAQ answer also lists a "$150 fee per oversized product". It cannot ship shutters there.
• Costco, Bali storefront: "Complimentary shipping in the U.S.*", with the asterisk leading to the FAQ: $95 for blinds over 96 inches; Alaska and Hawaii pay $75 for standard sizes and $155 over 96 inches.
• The Shade Store, 3 Day Blinds, Budget Blinds: not published. The Shade Store's terms point to a "Shipping + Handling" policy that could not be found.

Samples: the wait before the wait

• SelectBlinds says sample orders "typically ship by the next business day" and usually arrive within 3–5 business days (samples page and terms); its help centre says 4-6 business days via USPS. Paid expedited samples: two business days per the terms, within 3 business days per the help centre. The count differs too: up to 30 free samples on the samples page, the About Us page and in the help centre, 15 in the terms.
• The Shade Store offers unlimited free swatches; its menu says they ship in 1-3 days, its confirmation text says they "arrive in 1–3 business days".
• Blindster sends up to 10 free samples within one business day, typically arriving in 4–6 business days by USPS; UPS 2nd Day Air is a flat $5.
• Blinds.com, JustBlinds and the Costco Bali storefront each offer up to ten free samples and publish no delivery time.

Shutter lead times

SelectBlinds (re-read 2026-10-20) gives 7-10 business days for all four shutter lines (Classic and Contemporary Faux Wood Shutters, the Contemporary Frameless Kit and its no-drill shutters), then 1 to 7 business days of shipping; they are its slowest lines read.

• JustBlinds: "Normally made in: 22 business days". Costco's Bali storefront: six to eight weeks.
• Blindster: the category text gives Premium Faux Wood shutters "a manufacturing time of just 8-10 business days", yet the Premium page showed "Estimated Ship Date: Nov 25th - Nov 27th" on October 20, 2026.
• Blinds.com: estimated ship dates read on October 20, 2026 ran from 10/28/2026 (Levolor French Door Shutters) to 11/20/2026 (Blinds.com Simplicity Wood Shutters).

Is SelectBlinds usually on time?

None of the pages read for this comparison publishes an on-time delivery rate, and this page does not estimate one. SelectBlinds' ship-time lines use "typically" and "most orders", which describe the usual case rather than a promise, and its terms warn that products shipped from abroad through Customs may take longer. The safest reading of a SelectBlinds date is the product page's ship line plus up to 7 business days of shipping.

Verdict

For a quick custom order, the published numbers favour SelectBlinds' fastest lines (1-2 or 2-3 business days to ship, with free standard shipping on original orders to the continental US) and Blindster's Made in 1 Day products, made the day after the order and shipped the day after production (read on October 12, 2026). SelectBlinds is the weaker pick for delivery to Alaska or Hawaii, or when swatch speed matters most: The Shade Store's pages say its swatches ship, or arrive, in 1-3 days.
