Bead-Chain (Clutch) Lift

A bead-chain clutch is the continuous chain-and-clutch mechanism that raises and lowers many roller and solar shades. It’s inexpensive, durable, and handles heavy or wide shades easily, which is why it remains common on the roller category. The safety consideration is the loop: like any continuous loop it must be installed with the included wall-anchored tension device, which keeps the chain taut and the loop inaccessible. For homes with young children, a cordless spring roller or a motor removes the loop entirely and is the safer specification. The chain itself is reliable hardware — the anchor is the part people skip and shouldn’t.
