Mount Depth
Mount depth is the flat, unobstructed distance from the front of the window opening back to the glass or any hardware (cranks, alarm sensors, existing hardware). It governs whether a blind can inside-mount and how far it recesses. Product types need different minimums — a slim cellular shade wants roughly 3/4", a roller closer to 2", wood and faux-wood blinds 2"+ — and sellers publish a “flush mount” depth (fully recessed) and a smaller “minimum mount” depth (protrudes slightly). Measure the shallowest point. When the frame is too shallow, outside mount is the answer rather than forcing a fit.
